Since no one reads this anyway, I will spill my heart here about my musical journey. A dream that almost comes true but then eludes me completely. Lack of talent? No musical ear? Undisciplined? All of the above? Yes, yes, yes, (shake my head in shame) yes. However, I am going to give it a go (again) starting this Spring! My sweet poor Cello, we’re going to do this.
Friday, May 7th, 2021: Wiped down the Cello with a Swiffer to dust it off. I also had to dust off the books: Suzuki Cello School Volume 1, Cello Part, Revised Edition, and Essential Elements 2000 for Strings. Got an itchy nose from it. I better start practicing with the Scales and Arpeggios and remember how to read music again.
When I started taking cello lessons in 2012 at the age of 43, I had to learn to read music. I was obsessed, so I learned faster than I thought was possible. But I have not been disciplined since 2014, so I am back to step One. This is not a big deal because I have been to step One many, many embarrassingly too many times. This is the same with dieting and exercise. Sadly, a pattern here.
